Health Empowerment Renewal (H.E.R.) is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering diverse women to take an active role in their health and well-being. Through education, advocacy, and community-driven initiatives, we work to ensure individuals and families have access to the knowledge and resources needed to make informed health decisions.
Health Empowerment Renewal (H.E.R.) provides community-based health education and outreach programs designed to address disparities impacting underserved women. Many women face barriers to accessing reliable health information and resources, contributing to preventable conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes. H.E.R. addresses these challenges by offering culturally responsive education, support, and resource connections.
Through its Community Health Programs and Outreach initiative, H.E.R. empowers women to make informed health decisions, adopt healthier lifestyles, and improve overall well-being. The program focuses on increasing awareness, building individual capacity, and supporting long-term behavior change.
Key program activities include health education workshops, CPR and First Aid training, fitness challenges, cooking demonstrations, and wellness events. Participants also receive access to nutrition resources, weight management support, and referrals to community-based services.
Through these efforts, H.E.R. aims to improve health knowledge, increase engagement in healthy behaviors, and expand access to resources that support long-term wellness for individuals and families.
This event is sponsored by Culture Blocks, a community partnership between ASC, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation to bring arts and cultural experiences closer to where residents live. Culture Blocks is funded by Mecklenburg County.
ArtoberFest is our way to give back to the community and give our children life-changing opportunities through art. Artober Fest strives to inspire area residents and surrounding communities alike to join in celebrating the West Side of Charlotte's rich cultural heritage and service area resources. Artober Fest includes activities such as live music, selfie park, live art, kid’s activities/fashion show, food trucks, games, artist kickback and so much more!
This project is made possible, in part, with funding from ASC, and the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources.
This event is our way of culminating Charlotte’s live art, food and beverage, and multicultural creative scenes into an outdoor extravaganza. Artists from Charlotte and surrounding counties will gather with locals to safely take to the outdoors and celebrate the life of Charlotte through the arts. Electrifying performances and mural paintings, are apart of the many activities for the festival.
